A group backed by the Culinary Workers Union is asking a state judge to force city officials to let voters decide whether Las Vegas needs a new city hall.
The Las Vegas Taxpayer Accountability Committee lost a bid earlier this week for a similar order from Nevada's state Supreme Court.
The group opened a new front in the fight Friday, filing a lawsuit in Clark County District Court.
It seeks a hearing before a judge next week and an order putting two measures on the June 2 municipal ballot.
One would repeal a city redevelopment plan. The other would require voter approval for major projects like a new city hall.
The group collected enough signatures to get the measures on the ballot but the City Council decided they were flawed.
