Eyewitness News got a chance to exercise with students at Sunrise Acres Elementary and they had plenty of "happy feet" on their playground.
Students, parents and teachers spend the time before school and during lunch walking a quarter-mile course around the playground.
At the end of each lap, a card is punched. A completed card is exchanged for a chain with a foot charm. The more "happy feet" they earn, the healthier they become. And they love it.
Fourth grader Erika Tobar says, "it helps students stay healthy and they can lose some weight and be proud of themselves for walking."
For kids without many parks or places to play, the Happy Feet program provides just enough motivation to get them going.
In addition, classes compete against classes, grades against grades, and even boys against girls.
It's the quest for some happy feet and it's what's Cool at School.
