Las Vegas NowCool at School: Studying Opera
Students at Leavitt Middle School are learning about opera.
Not only are they learning about it in the classroom, they actually get to watch live performances from the Metropolitan Opera at local movie theatres.
Now, they're having a ball performing their own act of the Cinderella tale composed as the opera "La Cenerentola" in just 24 days.
Sixth grader, Madison Geihs says, "Before, I didn't really enjoy the music a lot but now that I've gone through this experience, I have come to appreciate it more."
The students are not singing their performance. They are learning the story behind the opera. And they look forward to seeing it performed live from New York City this weekend.
