Man Dies After Muddy River Accident

Updated:

A man has died after crashing his SUV into the Muddy River. The crash happened just north of State Route 169, near Logandale.

Metro Police say the driver was heading north on 169 when he lost control and rolled right into the river. A bus driver happened to see the accident and called 911.

Volunteers and police officers rushed into the river and were able to pull the driver out of the vehicle.

"Without those officers and without those folks that had just jumped in the river and did what was necessary, he wouldn't have had a chance at all and at least they were able to give him a fighting chance," said Metro Sgt. Bret Empey.

CPR was performed on the man. He was then flown to a Las Vegas hospital in critical condition and later died.
