Voters in Las Vegas, Henderson, Boulder City, Mesquite and North Las Vegas went to the polls Tuesday. At stake were races for mayor, city council, and judge.
The polls closed at 7 p.m. and some of the races were very tight.
One of the big races was the race for Henderson mayor. The incumbent, Jim Gibson, has reached the term limit and is leaving office after 12 years. Gibson has been the longest serving mayor in Henderson history.
Two city councilmen were running to replace Gibson. With 100-percent of precincts reporting, Andy Hafen leads Steve Kirk by just 45 votes.
Another big race is for mayor in North Las Vegas. Term limits also prevent Mayor Michael Montandon from running again. The race to succeed him is between two longtime city council members. With 100-percent of precincts reporting, Shari Buck leads William Robinson 55-percent to 45-percent.
Las Vegas City Councilman Larry Brown's old seat was also up for grabs. Brown now sits on the Clark County Commission. Looking to replace Brown were Glenn Trowbridge and Stavros Anthony.
Trowbridge is the chairman of the Las Vegas City Planning Commission. He's also a former director of Parks and Recreation for Clark County and he's a former Clark County director of personnel.
Anthony has served with Metro Police since 1980. He's currently a captain in the Financial and Property Crimes Bureau. Anthony is also a University Regent, serving on the board that oversees higher education in Nevada since 2002.
With 100-percent of precincts reporting, Stavros Anthony wins by just 10 votes.
