Mall Owner Sued Over Treatment of Hispanic Workers

Updated:

A federal agency is suing shopping mall owner Simon Property Group Inc. over treatment of Hispanic employees at the Forum Shops at Caesars on the Las Vegas Strip.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed the civil rights lawsuit Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas.

The commission accuses the Indianapolis-based company of subjecting at least four men to a hostile work environment based on their country of origin.

A Simon Property spokesman did not immediately return a call seeking comment on Tuesday.

The lawsuit says the workers were subjected to physical intimidation and derogatory racial slurs.

It claims the company failed to take action after it was alerted to the problem.
