A lawsuit against Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons can go forward. A federal judge has refused to throw out a lawsuit brought by a former waitress against the governor.
Chrissy Mazzeo accuses Gibbons of assaulting her outside a restaurant back in 2006. She also says the governor and several others orchestrated a cover-up of the crime when she went public with the accusation.
Included in her suit are Gibbons' lawyer, a political advisor, Las Vegas Metro Police and the former sheriff of Clark County. Everyone involved in the lawsuit have denied the allegations.
The whole incident happened just weeks before Gibbons was elected as governor.
