Governor's Deputy Chief of Staff Leaving

Updated:

Mendy Elliott, Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons' deputy chief of staff, is leaving amid an office reorganization to take a job in another state agency.

Robin Reedy, who just took over as chief of staff after Josh Hicks resigned from that post, says Elliott is hiring on at the state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation, filling a post being vacated by Jim Campos.

Reedy wouldn't say whether she asked for Elliott's resignation.

She said only that Elliott "sensed there was a reorganization going on in the office, and she looked for opportunities" elsewhere.

Elliott is the third person to leave Gibbons' office in less than a month. Besides Hicks, Chris Nielsen recently submitted his resignation as Gibbons' general counsel.
