Vegas Judge Considers Move North for Krolicki Case

Updated:

A judge in Las Vegas says she'll take a few days to decide whether to change the venue for a felony misappropriation of funds case against Nevada Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki and a top aide to northern Nevada.

Lawyers for Krolicki and Kathryn Besser told Clark County District Court Judge Elissa Cadish on Monday that the case the state attorney general presented to a grand jury in Las Vegas should instead been filed in Carson City.

Prosecutor Conrad Hafen says plenty of people in the Las Vegas area were affected when Krolicki and Besser allegedly mishandled a multibillion-dollar state college savings program while Krolicki was state treasurer.

Cadish has ruled the state attorney general cannot prosecute the case, but Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto has appealed to the Nevada Supreme Court. Oral arguments are set Aug. 31.
