The Nevada Highway Patrol says a 5-year-old Las Vegas boy was killed when the pickup truck he was riding in blew a front tire and spun out of control while pulling a large, fifth-wheel recreational trailer.
The accident happened Wednesday on State Route 376, about 40 miles northeast of Tonopah.
Authorities say 38-year-old Steven Haigh was driving when the left front tire blew out, sending the truck and trailer across traffic and down an embankment.
Haigh's 5-year-old son, Andrew, was one of three children in the back seat of the crew cab truck.
Authorities say he was ejected and died while being flown to a hospital in Las Vegas.
The other children were treated at a hospital and released.
