North Las Vegas Police are calling the death of a 65-year-old woman murder.

Police say on Monday evening, officers responded to an apartment near Deer Springs and I-215 for a report of an unresponsive woman. Officers say the woman was dead when they arrived from obvious physical injuries.

During their investigation, police say they determined 62-year-old Melvin Bailey killed the woman. Detectives arrested Bailey at the scene of the crime and transported him to the North Las Vegas Detection Center where he was booked for murder with a deadly weapon.
