Metro Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing

Updated:

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police's helicopter made an emergency landing in the intersection at Lindell and Twain. Pilots reported a mechanical problem forcing them to make the landing.

Police say the two-man crew was on routine patrol when their engine failed. They were forced to auto-rotate their craft down to the ground. Neither officer was injured.

After about an hour of testing, they took back to the air and returned the helicopter to their hanger at the North Las Vegas Airport.

The intersection of Lindell and Twain was closed to traffic while mechanics worked on the helicopter. It was opened shortly after the helicopter took off.
