Federal stimulus dollars are ready to flow in Nevada. Nevada Controller Kim Wallin says her office has entered 10 work programs to be funded by American Recovery and Reinvestment Act money into the state accounting system, meaning checks can be accepted and written.
Wallin on Monday said her office released the programs after receiving a written opinion from Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto that said Gov. Jim Gibbons acted within his authority when he signed an executive order claiming a potential loss of life or property if the programs are not released.
Projects to be funded range from law enforcement training programs and repairing leaking underground storage tanks to homeless assistance and upgrading the state's unemployment claims system.
