Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons has ordered flags at all state buildings be flown at half-staff in remembrance of U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy.
The Republican first-term governor, who previously served in the U.S. House of Representatives, issued a statement Wednesday, saying Kennedy "will always be remembered for his service and contributions to his nation and his loyal commitment to his family."
Gibbons ordered flags at the state Capital and all state buildings to remain lowered through sunset Thursday.
Kennedy, who served nearly five decades in the Senate, was diagnosed with brain cancer last year. He died late Tuesday at his home in Hyannis Port, Mass. He was 77.
