
(LAS VEGAS, Nv.) -- The Northern California man accused of kidnapping Jaycee Dugard and keeping her captive for 18 years was convicted in 1977 of kidnapping a woman and bringing her to Reno, Nevada where he held her captive in a storage unit.
According to the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Phillip Garrido was arrested for kidnapping and raping a South Lake Tahoe woman and then transporting her to Reno. Garrido was convicted on federal kidnapping charges in 1977 and sent to serve his 50 year sentence in Levenworth, Kansas.
He was released from Levenworth to the Nevada State Prison in 1988 where he served seven months on the Nevada charges. He was then transferred to federal authorities in California where he served until 1999.
Nevada Division of Parole and Probation has requested that California hold Garrido for violation of his Nevada parole.
