Labor Secretary Backs Las Vegas Vets

Updated:

In Las Vegas, there is an estimated 4,000 homeless veterans on the streets. U.S. Vets is a local organization helping some of these veterans and Friday Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis toured their facility.

While there, she addressed veterans about the importance of getting them back into the workforce and taking care of them and their families. She also paid tribute to the men and women who lost their lives during the 9/11 attacks.

"There was so many good people -- first responders, police, firefighters, military, Coast Guard and even our own Capitol Police. Everybody helped those in Washington as we were going through chaos and we prayed -- I know I did. I know all of us were united and we knew we had to do something to come together. So today we salute those individuals who lost their lives on 9/11," she said.

Congresswomen Shelley Berkley and Dina Titus were also at the U.S. Vets center speaking along side Secretary Solis.
