A lawyer for Andre Agassi's charitable foundation has been named to the Nevada Athletic Commission. Gov. Jim Gibbons announced the appointment of Francisco Aguilar on Monday.
The athletic commission regulates those involved in contests or exhibitions of unarmed combat, including boxers, martial artists, promoters, ring officials and managers.
Aguilar's appointment becomes effective Nov. 1. He replaces John Bailey, whose term expires at the end of this month.
Aguilar is corporate and communications counsel for The Andre Agassi Foundation and Agassi Graf Holdings.
He also previously served as senior counsel for Southwest Gas Corp. and special counsel to the chancellor of the Nevada System of Higher Education.
