There are some amazing students in the Clark County School District doing some amazing things. Manika Ward is one of them.

She is an 11th grader at Henderson International, but on this day, she is a star. Manika is reading her new book to some of the students at the Torino classroom at Sunrise Children's Hospital.

"I just love going to these readings. Reading to kids. Give them a book and hopefully they will have a good time," said Ward.

The book which is titled The Exciting Adventures of Boo is about a dog who goes through a variety of experiences and each of the 10 stories ends with an important lesson. It all comes from Manika's childhood. She began the project when she was 12 and today she is a published author.

"This is fantastic," said Len Ware, Torino classroom. The kids are patients at Sunrise and are undergoing cancer treatments. The Torino classroom is funded by the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation. The program helps them keep up in school and keep their spirits up.

Another benefactor from the book is the NSPCA animal shelter.

"When I went down there, I realized they really need the money. I looked at all the animals. There is no better way i can spend the money than to help save animals lives," Ward said. She gives all the proceeds from the book to the shelter. Her goal is to raise $15,000.

Manika's book costs $29.95 and you can order one through www.Boostories.com.
