The Clark County School District is suing a teenager and his parents over a 2008 fire that was set in the boys' locker room at Palo Verde High School in northwest Las Vegas.
The district on Monday filed suit against the student arrested in connection with the fire. It is seeking to recover damages totaling more than $71,300 plus judgments of up to $10,000 against each of his parents.
A 17-years-old student was arrested at the time of the April 2008 two-alarm fire. About 3,400 students were briefly evacuated from the school.
The school district says in its lawsuit that as part of a plea agreement in the case the student agreed to pay $1,000 in restitution to the district. The suit says that as of Sept. 11 only $453 had been paid.
