City Approves Contract Aimed at Getting Downtown Arena

Posted: Updated:

The Las Vegas City Council has just approved to enter an exclusive agreement with Cordish Companies, Inc. that could result in an arena being built in the downtown area.

The contract will allow the company to do a feasibility study to see if the arena should be built.

The entire proposed project would incorporate about 20 acres of city land near US 95 and Las Vegas Blvd. The project would be centered around a 20,000 seat arena, which could be home to a professional basketball or hockey team.

In addition, the project would also include a mixed use entertainment district. The company has up to two years to conduct the study.
