CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Rick Eaton, Nevada's homeland security chief, is resigning at the end of the month.
A former federal law enforcement veteran, Eaton was appointed to the post in 2007. He says he's leaving to devote more time to his family and pursue new endeavors.
Eaton's departure follows Gov. Jim Gibbons' announcement last month to put the homeland security office under the Department of Public Safety.
Public Safety Director Jerry Hafen says state Emergency Management Chief Frank Siracusa will act as the contact point for homeland security matters, and incorporate those efforts with overall emergency preparedness.
