Cool at School: Robotics Lab

Posted: Updated:

Wouldn't it be cool to work with robots in science class? Thanks to a grant and donation from the graduating class at Solomon Schechter Day School of Las Vegas, students now get to do that!

"I have to pick them up and put them in that hole," said student Landin Barney, while working hard inside the only elementary school robotics lab in Las Vegas.

Students Sammi Ostrovsky and her partner are working together. They are using a computer to operate the robot arm and pick up a wooden block. "When I first came into this science room, I was really surprised when I saw the robot arms. So then Miss Rouas, my science teacher, taught us how to use them and now I'm a pro at it," Ostrovsky said.

The lab is much harder than it looks. The students use math and teamwork to accomplish what seems like a simple task.
