NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) - North Las Vegas authorities say a 2-year-old boy initially pronounced dead after being pulled from a backyard pool has responded to efforts to save him and now has a heart beat.

The North Las Vegas Fire Department said Thursday afternoon that the boy is on life support.

Officials say the boy was pulled from the water Thursday morning and resuscitation efforts were started until paramedics arrived.

The boy was taken to University Medical Center. The fire department says he was pronounced dead but a short time later responded to lifesaving efforts.

The fire department initially sent out information that the boy had been pronounced dead, then sent out the corrected information later.
