LAS VEGAS (AP) - University Medical Center officials say their new entrance will open next week with upgrades and more parking to make access easier for patients and visitors.
The results of a 5-year, $13.2 million project were unveiled Monday at the Las Vegas hospital.
A 51,000-square-foot addition includes a new admitting area, access to an outpatient pharmacy, a laboratory and blood draw station, waiting room, new elevators and a gift shop.
The former admitting area will be remodeled to serve Nevada Cancer Institute oncology services at the region's only public nonprofit hospital.
UMC operates the state's only Level I trauma center and organ transplant center. It also has a burn care center and pediatric trauma unit, and is a clinical campus for the University of Nevada School of Medicine.
