Nevada Unemployment Numbers Dip Slightly

Posted: Updated:

Nevada's unemployment rate for the month of October fell for the first time in more than a year. The jobless rate now stands at 13 percent, that's down 0.3 percent from September.

The number of unemployed people in Clark County fell almost a full percentage point to 13 percent, down from the 13.9 percent reported in September.

the chief economist for the Nevada Department of Unemployment says the decrease in the state's labor force and employment stabilization were major factors for the decline.

As of October, 175,300 Nevadans were officially counted as unemployed.

Nevada still outpaces the national unemployment rate of 10.2 percent in October. A year ago, Nevada's statewide unemployment rate was 7.7 percent.
