(Feb. 25) -- From Nelly, to Puffy, to Eve and others, it seems like lots of celebrities have clothing lines these days. But Pamela Anderson has always been a little different and so it makes sense that her clothes represent -- her.
People know her as a sex symbol the world over. But this week, Pamela Anderson was in Las Vegas at the giant fashion convention called Magic unveiling her new "pet" cause with PETA, her own cruelty-free clothing line.
"It was really hard for me to find great shoes that weren't leather, that were still sexy, that I could wear on the beach with my kids. So we're most proud of these guys, these beach boots because they're absolutely synthetic," Anderson said.
And they look absolutely like the Ugg boots that are so popular these days -- and were so popular with the actress until PETA explained how they were made. Now Anderson's line is filled with faux leather pumps, fancy t-shirts, even Pam lingerie and jewelry.
Dan Matthews with PETA said, "It's been a real thrill to be at a fashion convention and not disrupting it. But here as a part of it for a change, spotlighting the cruelty-free alternative and we have Pam to thank for that."
Her affiliation with PETA goes back over a decade and is currently second in her life to her number one cause -- being a full-time mother to her two young sons.
"I have a belt buckle that's a starfish and it was inspired by my kids because I live on the beach and there's tide pools. And I'm going down there and kids are stabbing starfish and sea urchins and so I did this belt buckle that says, 'I have feelings too', because my kids are constantly saying they have feelings too, and the money from that belt buckle goes to PETA."
As for the entertaining part of her career, well, she's taking some time off. Pam's only spotlight moment of late is actually here, in Elton John's show at Caesars, where she gyrates on a pole in a video during one of his songs.
For the first time I was even covering my face, I was like, oh my goodness! But, it was fun. I mean, I love Elton John," Anderson said.
So the sexy starlet shies away from the spotlight and becomes, well, the sexy fashion pioneer.
Those cruelty-free "Pamela" clothes will be available at stores in the fall. Most of the items will be in the $39 to $99 range -- even the shoes!
