(Nov. 18) -- A valley man accused of child abuse and child pornography was back in court. Brian Handusek was in North Las Vegas Justice Court Thursday morning. The judge set his preliminary hearing for Dec. 2.
Handusek is accused of taking pictures of young boys that lived in the mobile home park that he lived in.
(Nov. 17) -- A Las Vegas man is behind bars charged with taking pornographic pictures of young kids in his neighborhood. Police say 41-year-old Brian Handusek took pictures of at least two boys aged eight and nine.
The father of one of the victim's told channel 8 Eyewitness News Handusek bought his son gifts and gave him money. When police raided Handusek's home, they found a number of pictures of kids involved in sexual acts.
Forensic psychologist Mark Chambers says the parents are not to blame. But Handusek's gifts and money should have been a sign that something was wrong, "A lot of times, sexual predators do show an inordinate interest in children in the neighborhood or children that they may come in contact with."
Handusek is charged with possession of child pornography.
(Nov. 16) -- A valley man is under arrest Tuesday night, facing two-dozen counts of child pornography. Police say Brian Handusek is a pedophile, and has admitted as much. They say he gave young boys money to take photos of each other's private parts.
Police say the 41-year-old man lured children into his mobile home and forced them into child pornography. Police say a manager of the Silverado Mobile Home Park turned Handusek in.
Julian lives in the same mobile home park as Handusek near Las Vegas Blvd. and Cheyenne. He says, "Every time I came over here there would be a kid over here. He never had grownups.
Julian says kids in the Silverado Mobile Home Park often hung out at Brian Handusek's house, including his 9 and 10-year-old sons. "He'd take them out to Wal-Mart and buy them toys."
Forty-one-year-old Handusek would also pay children large sums of money to help him around the house. Julian continued, "Every other day they would come home with the money. Big old cans of change and stuff."
Julian says he did not suspect Handusek was acting inappropriately until his 9-year-old son told him about pictures he had taken while inside Handusek's home. "He told me he took a picture of his backside and his friend, a picture of himself naked and the guy kept the picture."
Park manager, Lou Duram says that Handusek was a "quiet guy, kept to himself, no problem." Duram says a background check was run on Handusek when he moved in a year ago, but nothing showed up.
It was Lou Duram who called police after Julian's wife took their son to his office and told him what had happened. Duram says he wished parents would have noticed the red flags and let him know sooner. "I was disappointed more parents didn't come forward. If they knew anything they didn't come forward to the police department," Durham said.
Handuseck is charged with 25 counts of child pornography and two counts of child abuse and endangerment. He's being held on $256,000 bail.
Handusek may have victimized as many as five children.
