The woman convicted this week in the death of her diabetic daughter spoke out publicly Thursday for the first time since the jury handed down its verdict.
Cheryl Botzet read a statement declaring her innocence.
On Oct. 25, a jury convicted her of second-degree murder saying she neglected her daughter Ariel who suffered from type-1 diabetes. Ariel died from a diabetic reaction because she didn't get the proper amount of insulin.
Botzet said, "I will say that Ariel was the love of my life. From the time she was diagnosed at 3 with diabetes, I tried to keep her healthy and safe. Ariel lost her battle with diabetes in 2004. I disagree with the jury's verdict and will spend however long it takes to clear my name."
Cheryl Botzet's lawyer is asking for the verdict to be tossed out, if it isn't Botzet will appeal.
Cheryl Botzet faces life in prison.
