Friends and family said goodbye Wednesday to Pat Morita, the longtime actor who was a Las Vegas resident. Morita died on Thanksgiving Day from kidney problems.
Among those attending his service was Ralph Macchio who played Daniel opposite Morita's Mr. Miyagi in the "Karate Kid" movies. Macchio gave an emotional tribute to his co-star calling him a friend and mentor both on and off the screen.
Macchio said, "I had the privilege and honor to work alongside Pat creating the most memorable moments of my career and life. Moments that are remembered around the world to this day."
Morita was also hailed as a pioneer in the entertainment industry. He was one of the first Asian Americans to do standup comedy, the first to have his own TV series and to garner an Oscar nomination.
Pat Morita is survived by his wife and three daughters.
