Red Rock Resort Steps Up Curfew Enforcement

The new Red Rock Resort, hotel and casino has plenty of entertainment options for people of all ages. That's both a blessing and a curse.

Lots of people flock to the resort at 215 and Charleston at all hours of the day, and that includes teenagers who should be at home. Red Rock Resort is now launching a new effort that will focus on stricter curfew enforcement.

The Red Rock Resort just wants to make sure kids are gone by the time the clubs, bars and lounges kick into full swing. It's a piece of the Las Vegas Strip a little closer to home for locals.

Between the waterfalls outside and the bright lights of the slot machines inside, both young and old are drawn to Red Rock Resort.

Gabriel Diaz commented, "You got arcades going on, you got rides and different themes I guess are for kids."

These are the reasons Gabriel Diaz takes his son Emanuel there. But there is now a 9 p.m. curfew at the Red Rock Resort.

Lori Nelson, with Red Rock Resort, said, "We feel that there's plenty of time for those under 21 to enjoy our movie theaters and restaurants and our arcade. But there comes a time and a place where we believe the casino should be enjoyed by those who are 21 and over."

When 9 p.m. does come around, it's not like security guards will be rounding up kids from inside. If kids are at a movie or a restaurant eating, they just need to leave as soon as their finished, and they should be with an adult.

All Station Casinos across the valley have a curfew for kids under the age of 21.

With most kids out of school for the summer, there is a curfew for teens for the Las Vegas Strip. Earlier this month, Metro Police launched a crackdown called Operation Safe Strip.

Here are the curfew hours for the Las Vegas Strip:

• Minors are not allowed on Las Vegas Boulevard past 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
• On Friday, Saturday and holidays, the curfew time is 9 p.m. on Las Vegas Boulevard.

Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
