Statewide casino winnings and the number of visiting tourists is down this June from last June.
The Nevada gaming control board says the 7 percent decline in casino winnings could be a number of things. Fewer conventions, big name concerts and boxing matches could be the reasons for fewer tourists and less spending in casinos.
Another reason they say could be the high gas prices. Cutting down on tourists coming to Las Vegas.
Richard Broshar a tourist from Sacramento says he comes to Las Vegas about four or five times a year in his RV. Now, those high gas prices and plane tickets will cut back on his trips.
"We'd like to, but just driving here from Sacramento was $400 in gas. It's probably going to limit our trips here. Most definitely," Broshar says.
Gaming analysts with gaming today predict the slump won't last long. The newer casinos going up should bring the economy back on its feet.
