The plan to sell the South Coast hotel-casino is now endorsed by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
Boyd Gaming plans to sell the South Coast property to veteran Nevada gaming figure Mike Gaughan.
Gaughan is the founder and former operator of Coast Casinos. He oversaw the construction of the South Coast.
Under the deal, Gaughan will end up with a new resort debt-free and without any partners.
The deal is subject to a final vote on Oct. 19.
