A well known soap opera actress lost her battle with cancer over the weekend.

Darlene Conley, 72, was best known for playing Sally Spectra on The Bold and the Beautiful for nearly two decades.

Conley started on the soap back in 1988, and has earned two Emmy nominations for her performance.

She also played characters on Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and on The Young and the Restless she played the memorable role of black market baby broker Rose DeVille, which inspired William J. Bell to cast her on Y&R's sister show, The Bold and the Beautiful.

Prior to the move to daytime, the actress made small appearances in such movies as The Birds and Valley of the Dolls and such television shows as Murder, She Wrote, Cagney & Lacey and The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

Conley was diagnosed with stomach cancer about three months ago.
