Two Former Girlfriends of Stiles Are Breathing Easier

Those who claim to know Chester Stiles best are also breathing a huge sigh of relief knowing this accused sexual predator is in jail.

Eyewitness News spoke with two former girlfriends of Chester Stiles. They both say they've been anxiously awaiting his arrest for the last month.

Two former girlfriends admit that although their romantic relationships had ended with Chester stiles, they were still friends. But one of those former girlfriends now admits she was the one who tipped off authorities the sexual predator in that video was Chester Stiles.

He's been on the run for several weeks, weeks that have been agonizing for former girlfriend Elaine Thomas. She was the one that originally told authorities the picture of the sexual predator was in fact Chester Stiles.

Thomas said, "I was afraid that if it came out that I was the one that identified him before he was off the streets, that he might try to get some sort of retaliation. I was also afraid that he might show up at my house looking for a place to hide."

Thomas says she last saw Stiles in mid-September.

"He had dropped off his truck at my house. He had had an accident with it and asked if he could keep it in front of my house until he could get it taken care of," she continued.

A little more than a week later, Thomas realized her friend was wanted for sexually assaulting a two-year-old girl.

Elaine Thomas explained, "The second set of photos was definitely him. I saw it on the eleven o'clock news. I screamed. I woke my roommate up. She came in and screamed."

Thomas was able to remain anonymous, fearing for her own safety. But another former girlfriend, Tina Allen, has been far from secretive. She claims she too last saw Stiles in September. She admits she was questioned by police for six hours and since has also been living in fear.

Tina Allen said, "I knew he had needs and I knew he had problems but I never realized they were this, not once."

Allen says she's shocked Stiles didn't try to get away. "I'm surprised he gave up as easily as he did. I really am. [He] usually runs, he doesn't usually stand and fight, but he does usually run. I figured he would run, but maybe he is tired."

Allen says she never helped Stiles hide, instead, like Thomas; she lived in fear of a man they thought was their friend.

Eyewitness News was told by Elaine Thomas' attorney that money was offered to Thomas for more information. She says she didn't accept it. And if she were to accept it, she would donate it to the victims.

Stiles is facing a long list of charges in connection with the videotape of the rape of the two-year-old girl. He has a long criminal history and several arrests dating back to 1999.
