Presidential Candidate Ron Paul Campaigns in Nevada

Updated:

If you've seen those small hand-stenciled signs around town, you may already recognize the name "Ron Paul." He's a republican candidate for president.

The Texas congressman has developed a grassroots effort that is gaining attention, especially on the Internet.

The conservative republican has started a two-day campaign swing through Nevada.

Paul wants to sharply modify, cut, or do away with income taxes. With Nevada's heavy tourism industry, he also wants to cut taxes on tips.

He's also proposing cutting back on military spending overseas and using that money to strengthen America's borders and domestic security.

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul said, "The emphasis of the campaign is certainly on limited government balanced budget, cutting way back on the size of government, letting young people opt of social security as soon as possible and living within our means."

Ron Paul served in the U.S. Congress in the late '70s and early '80s. He left in 1984 but ran again and was re-elected in 1997.
