Las Vegas NowMetro Investigating Death of Man After NHP Trooper Uses Taser
An NHP Trooper got involved in an altercation with the driver and a physical struggle ensued.Metro is investigating the death of a man who struggled with an NHP trooper on Friday. It happened on I-15 and snarled traffic for hours.
Police say they received reports of several hit and run accidents on southbound I-15 Friday afternoon. The driver behind the wheel of a pick-up truck involved in all those crashes has been identified as 33-year-old Ryan Rick.
When NHP arrived, they say Rick struggled violently with the trooper and tried to run into oncoming traffic.
The trooper, along with the help of a passing motorist, subdued the man with a Taser. Rick was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Officials are investigating the case. The trooper involved has been put on paid administrative leave.
