Lowest Gas Prices In Las Vegas

Updated:

In the days of record high gas prices, drivers will go to extreme lengths to get a free fill up. Thursday, hundreds of drivers will line up for the chance to get their tank filled for free at the Green Valley Grocery on Flamingo and Jones. A new wireless company is giving away $10,000 in gas.

Cricket Communications is sponsoring the event.

"It is a pretty simple idea, when you look at the gas prices today -- roughly at $3.65 a gallon. I think everyone is out and can use a free fill. It was a simple idea. We decided we wanted to save customers some money," said Steve Munoz with Cricket Communications.

Munoz says drivers can get up to 20 gallon of free gas beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday afternoon, until they hit the $10,000 mark. Cars wanting to line up started 4 p.m., just one hour before the actual give away starts. Metro Police is on hand to control the traffic.

Michael Sager decided not to fill up after hearing of the free gas deal. He says the give away could not have come at a better time.

"Even five gallons. A lot of people can not afford gas at all. I just bought this car. I have had it for three months and I have not filled it up yet. I've been nickel and diming it at almost $4.00 a gallon. It's crazy," he said.
