Fire officials say fireworks and injuries make Independence Day weekend the busiest, second only to New Year's Eve, and they're warning people to use fireworks with precautions.
Take a trip down to Pahrump and the sale of fireworks that are illegal in Clark County is in full swing. Several people make the long drive to get their hands on bottle rockets, cherry bombs and other illegal fireworks to bring back to Las Vegas.
There's a warning sign posted that illegal fireworks aren't allowed in Clark County. Metro Police, along with NHP, are teaming up to set checkpoints to catch those smuggling them into Clark County.
"Anything that flies into the air or explodes with great force is illegal in Clark County. We do confiscate those fireworks and it is a misdemeanor," said Scott Allison with Clark County Fire Department.
Fire officials say the safe and sane fireworks, which are legal in Las Vegas, will go on sale at midnight Friday, until 11:59 p.m. on July 4, 2008.
