Metro Police say a botched robbery at the Liquor Outlet on north Nellis was what led to the death of a store clerk. There were no witnesses in the store when the clerk was shot, but there were plenty of people outside.

Paul Stitt went to work like any other day. The difference is two criminals made sure he would not come home. Stitt became the 62nd murder in Las Vegas this year. He's more than just a statistic.

Watch the Surveillance Video

Stitt was following his dream to be a rock star. He lived with his step-brother, who did not want to be identified because the murderers are still on the loose. He showed pictures of Stitt performing with Angelic Rage at Mile high Stadium in the 90's, opening for Iron Maiden.

"Never really got anything going here, but he just wanted to do something so he went down there and wanted to be around people," he said.

He got a job as a clerk and made an impression on complete strangers, like Monaka Glover.

"Paul was a very nice guy. He was nice and kind to everybody all the time," she said. "His life is gone for nothing. They came in, they shot, they didn't -- nothing. You know, just killed a nice guy, an innocent guy, for nothing."

Metro Police say Stitt finished his cigarette last night and went back inside the store. Two men followed. Homicide Lt. Lew Roberts say the surveillance video shows one of the men drawing a gun. Police believe it may have gone off accidentally, shooting Stitt once in the head.

"There was a number of people that were outside the liquor store, outside and around the liquor store when this happened. We are hoping that we will get some information on the suspects," said Roberts.

Glover wants the suspects to turn themselves in. So does Stitt's family, who are now making funeral arrangements, "I know we lost a good man for $9 an hour and it's just a sad day."

There were no other people inside the store. The eyewitnesses were outside when they heard the shot. Police say the robbers stole money off the victim and are both about 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 175 pounds. Both were wearing dark colored baseball caps.
