New Clues in Search for Missing Boy

There are new details in the search for an abducted six-year-old boy, Cole Puffinburger, who was taken at gunpoint Wednesday morning. Police now say his family was targeted because of drugs and the three men who have the boy are Mexican Nationals.

Metro Police say they have specific persons of interest. They are currently interviewing those people here. The tips that led to these people came from the public.

Police have made this case their number one priority. Officers have gone to 12 hour shifts to work 24 hours a day to find Cole.

Police will not elaborate on the drug connection, just saying just there is a link to Cole's family. Captain Vincent Cannito says that drug connection directly led to the targeted attack and kidnapping.

"There is a definite nexus to significant amounts of money and drugs with this situation," said Capt. Cannito.

Metro Officers re-canvassed the neighborhood and placed fliers on each of the homes. Later, relatives of Cole's biological father did the same with homemade fliers. The number one priority for both is to get Cole back safely.

His family still believes he is in Las Vegas. That does not make this situation less serious for police.

Nevada Amber Alert

Police contacted New Mexico, California and Arizona law enforcement and media to get the word out. An Amber Alert has now been issued for Cole in Nevada, southern California and New Mexico.

Kay Bates lives next door to the Puffinburger's. She's worried sick over the missing boy, "I just want Cole returned, wherever he is. I just want someone to return him and return him safely and I pray that's what will happen."

Cole is 47 inches tall. He has blue eyes with blonde hair. He was last seen wearing a WWE John Cena black t-shirt, a black zip up hoodie jacket with blue and white stars and skulls. Cole wears wired rimmed glasses.

The first suspect is a Hispanic man in his early 30's with dark skin and black, slicked back shoulder length hair. He's about 5'7" tall and weighs about 150 pounds.

The second suspect is also a Hispanic man with a thin build. He's about 5'9" tall and was last seen wearing a tan, brown and red vertical striped shirt.

Nevada Child Seekers says 8,000 children go missing in Nevada every year. Of that number, 100 are abducted. The last time an Amber Alert was issued in Nevada was in 2005 and that child was found safe.
