Debbie Maxwell says her 15-year-old knew Olivia. She struggled with how to talk about the accident with her daughter, "I have no idea, no idea what to say. I am glad the school has grief counselors here."
SLIDESHOW: Remembering Olivia Hyten
In just three months, Maxwell's daughter will get her license. She now wonders if she should wait, "The responsibility of knowing who to get into the car with. There are so many distractions out there -- the radio, the cell phones, the iPods, the everything."
Nicki Fazio is having the same discussion with her 14-year-old daughter, "Our biggest concern is obviously making sure that we know if she is doing an activity, where they are going, what they are doing, and who she is getting in a car with."
While some people say the teens were racing, the father of a boy ejected from one of the vehicles says Mike Mosley drove up along side the truck and waved. He says that's when the driver sped away, lost control in this narrow stretch of Grand Hills and flipped.
Fazio lives near the accident scene and says it was only a matter of time before something tragic happened, "We can sometimes hear the cars from our home if we are in the backyard in the evening. You can hear the cars racing. We have seen them if you go to the store to get milk or something like that."
She regrets it took this tragedy to remind her daughter and other teens about the dangers of getting behind the wheel.
The head of the Clark County Schools crisis team says all parents should talk to their children about the crash. He says bring it up and then just listen to your children.
