Friends and Family Gather to Remember Teen

A tragic crash this past weekend took the life of a 15-year-old girl. Tuesday night, friends and family of Olivia Hyten gathered to remember the Coronado High School sophomore.

They shared memories of their friend who died much too young.

"Olivia was my best friend and she was really a great girl. She had an amazing personality and was always full of life -- always smiling," said Ally Davis.

Olivia's life ended abruptly when the truck she was in flipped over during a street race Friday night in the southeast valley.

As they said goodbye, her classmates left messages for Olivia, remembering her striking smile.

"I've never seen her not smiling. It's sad to see her gone. It's not going to be the same," said Nick Markovich.

"She was very vivacious, very outgoing and she had striking beautiful green eyes. I remember meeting her at her grandmother's house for the very first time and her eyes just sparkled. They looked like pools of emeralds," said Valerie Apo.

While they celebrated Olivia's life and mourned her loss, last weekend's tragedy clearly made them think.

"Driving is not a game. When you're driving, you have to think about other people's lives in the car, not just yours," said Olivia's cousin Elizabeth Sant.

The other driver involved in the accident is the son of Judge Donald Mosely. Mike Mosely is being charged with driving under the influence.

Olivia Hyten's funeral service is Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Palm Mortuary on south Eastern.

Then on Thursday morning from 6 to 8 a.m., students will collect money for Olivia's family at the corner of Coronado Center Drive and Horizon Ridge Parkway in Henderson.
