Website Lets People Unload Their Unwanted Items

Updated:

Ebay, Craig's list and Amazon are websites where you can find and buy anything but there's a new site that's drawing in thousands of fans everyday.

The website allows you to get everything for free and at the same time help the environment too. It's called Freecycle.org and it's purpose is to keep all that stuff you want to get rid of from piling up in the landfills.

Members of Freecycle can list items they want to get rid of and if someone wants those items, they can pick them up.

Halley Contreras is a member of Freecycle and says it also works both ways. Contreras was able to get a television, her grandson's highchair and three Basset hounds all for free by just doing a search on Freecycle.

There are 9,000 people in Las Vegas signed up and 6 million members worldwide. Contreras says Freecycle has saved millions of items around the globe from ending up at our landfills.

"If they were to stack the items in garbage trucks, it would be six times the size of Mount Everest for the number of items we saved from going to the landfill," said Contreras, a member of Freecycle.org.

There are no strings attached. Everything has to be 100-percent free and no trading, buying or bartering is allowed.
