The Las Vegas television market will be conducting digital television tests in January.
By February 17, 2009, television stations nationwide will switch from analog to digital teleivison. Consumers who want to receive a signal will need to take some easy steps to make sure that happens. It is estimated that 7-percent of Las Vegas households are not ready.
On January 12th and 13th, Nevada's television broadcasters will participate in a test shutoff of their analog signals. There will be five, 2-minute tests, over a 24-hour period. The tests will be at 5:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 7:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on the 12th and then at 2:30 a.m. on the 13th. Some viewersm, who are not ready to receive a digital signal, will receive a message to call 1-888-388-2545 or go to www.dtvanswers.com.
In the meantime, the United States Commerce Department says the TV converter box coupon program has hit its $1.34 billion funding limit and new applicants are being put on a waiting list.
