Police Have Responded to 53 Cases of Kids in Hot Cars

Updated:

Metro police want to remind everyone about the dangers of leaving your children in the car. In addition to the heat danger, police say in just a matter of minutes, a child could be kidnapped.

"There's not a person in this community I'm willing to say who would take a $100 bill out of their pocket put it on the dashboard of a car then go into the store for just five minutes. Yet we're willing frequently to leave our children in the vehicle," said Vince Cannito, Metro.

The temperature inside a parked car can reach a lethal level in less than four minutes. This year Metro has responded to 53 reports of children left in cars. Luckily, all of them survived.

Parents who leave their children in car can face a felony charge.
