A murder investigation is underway in a southwest Las Vegas neighborhood after a deadly home invasion.

According to police, the victim, a man in his 20's, was entering his home in the area of Fort Apache and Russell around midnight, when he was attacked by two men wearing bandanas.

The men forced their way into the home and shot the victim. There were two women in the home that were not harmed and did call police for help.

The suspects ran away on foot.

People who live in the neighborhood say the 27-year-old aspiring rapper was a pretty quiet guy. But he was concerned about security. He even had a high-tech camera system guarding every entrance to his home.

A sign posted outside the home warns trespassers will be shot, and survivors shot again. But inside is where police say trespassers shot the resident shortly after midnight.

"The wife came over told me her husband was shot. I went over there to check, he had no pulse. Rose was a good guy, he was a good guy," said a neighbor, who did not want to be identified. The neighbor tells Eyewitness News the victim went by the name Rose and ABC.

"His wife is tore up. How would you feel if you saw your wife shot in front of you? It was right in front of her, she saw everything. The wife was hysterical; so was his handyman. He had a good friend living with him too. He was a real good guy. I don't know why anybody would do this to him."

Sergeant Mike Thompson of Metro said, "It appears at this time that robbery was the motive. We don't have any connection to any kind of narcotics."

Police say the family had just come home when the suspects followed them up to the front door. They were armed, had on dark clothing and bandanas over their faces and forced their way into the house.

When it was over, the suspects were gone, one man was dead, and a family left wondering why.

Neighbors say he well liked and there were never any problems during the five years he lived there. It is still very much a crime scene. Neighbors say that the wife and daughter are staying with relatives.
