Las Vegas Now8-Year-Old Killed on Bicycle
An eight-year-old boy was killed while riding his bike in North Las Vegas. The boy was hit by an SUV in a gated neighborhood near Centennial and Losee.
The Fourth of July celebrations have turned somber after a little boy was run over and killed in the middle of the road. The tragedy happened around 1:30 p.m. at the Cottages at Centennial Ranch.
North Las Vegas Police say an eight-year-old boy was leaving a driveway on his bicycle. He darted into danger as a silver SUV was just taking off from the neighborhood.
Authorities say the driver had no time to react and sadly ran over the boy. Neighbors heard screams they're still trying to come to grips with what happened.
The boy was rushed to UMC in very serious condition, but he did not make it.
The driver of the SUV was inside the vehicle with his wife. He has submitted a blood sample and ultimately the City Attorney will decide whether he will face criminal charges in the accident.
