Police Investigate Robbery Spree at Cell Phone Stores

Updated:

Police have seen a jump in robberies as two different groups targeted wireless stores. Luckily one group has been caught but one robber is still on the loose and struck again Wednesday afternoon.

Police say since December, a man has robbed several Cricket and Metro PCS stores. He's seems to have made a job of it averaging a robbery every other day.

Police say he always wears the same jacket when he goes into the stores and generally follows the same steps in every robbery.

"He will typically wait for customers to leave on their own and then he will confront any clerks that are in the business and ask, ‘Are you alone?' When they respond is when he shows his firearm," said Metro Robbery Lt. Clint Nichols.

Surveillance video released by police show the man showing his gun. The robber then tells the clerks to lie down on the floor while he takes the cash from the registers. On a few occasions, he even helps himself to some cell phones.

Police say he is the only one who goes into the stores, but they can't tell how he leaves -- if he is picked up by someone or if he just runs away.

Police say so far he has not been violent, but they worry since he does use a gun, there's always a chance things could escalate.

The suspect is in his 20's, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall. He also has a goatee and is generally wearing that same black jacket with red lining when he goes into the stores.
