Former Acts of Kindness Recipient: Red Davis

LAS VEGAS - From the courts into the classroom - teens who have temporarily stepped off the right path could be receiving some encouragement to get back on track with our former Acts of Kindness recipient, Red Davis.

When Red Davis received our award in February of 2014 it was for the positive changes he was making in the lives of teenagers and young adults.  As a Marshal inside Judge Diana Hampton's Henderson Municipal Courtroom, once a month for about six years - he scared teens straight through a "Life of Crime" program. The teens were either ordered to be there, or were brought in voluntarily by their parents.

Davis said, "I retired from law enforcement in 2015, the Life of Crime program ran until March of last year, with the passing of Judge Hampton.

He no longer works for the City of Henderson but his goal remains the same: to reach as many young people as possible to help them understand the difference between making a mistake, and making a life-changing decision.

He's changed the program name to "Choices and Consequences" and he plans to deliver it to area schools twice a month. He'd like to reach about one-hundred students each time. He'd even like to get any teen offenders to speak at his program, from experience. Davis said, "I have reached out to the Clark County School District and Juvenile Justice Court Services trying to get the judiciary to sentence their young people and some just above age of 18 to participate in program, and the presentation."
