Denise Valdez is an Emmy award winning journalist and the co- anchor of southern Nevada’s number one-rated noon and 4 p.m. newscast.
Since she joined KLAS-TV in 2006, she has been part of the team winning Emmy’s for Best Morning Newscast, Best Coverage of a Special Event, and Best Breaking News Coverage.
In 2009, she won an Emmy for Best Anchor in the Pacific Southwest Region. Denise won her first Emmy in 2007 for a series of educational reports, called 'Cool at School'. The stories highlighted the positive programs in Clark County schools.
Besides news, her other passion, is pets. She produces a regular segment called ‘Pet Project’ where she reports on local animal issues. She supports several rescue groups, fostering kittens for the Animal Foundation and adopting two boys, Dutch and Joey, from Golden Retriever Rescue of Southern Nevada and Oliver from Friends for Life Humane Society.
Denise came to us from KNBC-TV in Los Angeles where she was the weekend anchor of Southern California's number one late night newscast. Before Los Angeles, she was the weekend anchor at KXAS-TV in Dallas and the noon and 6pm anchor at KSAT-TV in San Antonio. She also worked in Monterey and Palm Springs, California.
She has been a television journalist for 23 years.
Denise graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism from Pepperdine University. Before landing her first on air job, she got plenty of practice talking in front of the public as a tour guide at Universal Studios.
